What to expect

Almost every meeting we have with a new client begins with the words, "I have been meaning to do this for ages". We understand, it can be very easy to put off a task that may seem complicated or daunting. However, we firmly believe that it does't have to be and we love hearing those same clients say aftwerwards, that the process was much more straightforward and relaxed than they expected it to be. You will never regret planning for the future.

Putting a Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney in place are vital steps in effective estate planning and the most important thing you can do to protect your loved ones. This is why we guide you every step of the way.

You may have made a Will before and feel quite confident or you may feel the whole thing is a mystery and have one hundred and one questions, perhaps you feel that your family situation is a little bit complicated and you aren't sure where to start. However you feel is fine, we are here to put you at ease, answer all your questions, make sure you understand your options and make the choices that are right for you and your family.

Every client is different and each case is individual but this is generally what you can expect...........

STEP 1 - GET IN TOUCH

It begins with you. Call us on 07873959741 or email emily@cloveroakwills.co.uk with any initial questions you have or to book a meeting. We will send you an appointment confirmation and some information on things that it may be helpful to consider before our meeting.

 STEP 2 - FIRST MEETING

The first meeting is a chance to get to know  you better, it is relaxed and goes at your pace. We will discuss your situation and what you want to achieve. We will answer any questions you have and advise on the available options that you may want to consider.  If you are happy to proceed we will take instructions for your Will and/or Lasting Power of Attorney.  Before we take any instructions we will quote you a total price for the services which have been agreed. There will be no extras or changes to this quoted fee and payment only becomes due when work is completed and you are happy with everything. This meeting usually takes around an hour and a half and can be done by video call or we can visit you at home. Children and pets often make impromptu apperances and are most welcome!

STEP 3 - DRAFTING STAGE

Your documents are drafted. You have nothing to do at this point except sit back, relax  and feel rather pleased with yourself for taking  important matters in hand. It may be that you are still thinking about things we discussed at our meeting and want some more time to make decisions. This is no problem, we begin drafting when you are ready. We are on hand at all times to answer any questions you may have at this point.

As soon as you are ready we begin and will send your draft documents for your approval within 10 days. If you need things in a hurry we can fast track your drafts at no extra cost. .

 STEP 4 - SIGNING STAGE

As soon as you are happy with your drafts we will prepare your final documents. This is an important stage and whether we visit you at home to supervise the signing or send the documents to you with detailed instructions we make sure that your Will/Lasting Power of Attorney are signed and witnessed in accordance with legal requirements to ensure that they are valid.  It's only at this point that payment is due.

STEP 5 _ THE FUTURE

At this point the work is done and there is nothing to do except make sure that your Will and Lasting Power of Attorney are stored away safely. We don't see this as the end of our relationship. We are always available to answer any questions you might have in the future, without charge. We want you to stay in touch, we know that life has a habit of keeping us all on our toes and we love the fact that as life changes for our clients we are the people that they come back to if they have questions or want to make changes to their estate planning.
